On 9 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis bade farewell to Canada’s outgoing Ambassador to the Baltic states Kevin Rex.

Lithuania's Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for his personal contribution to the development and strengthening of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Canada. “We value the friendship of our countries, which is based on respect for the common values of freedom, democracy and human rights. I am delighted with the intensified relationship that, as we believe, will further strengthen after the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Lithuania,” Landsbergis said.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening security in the Baltic region, welcomed Canada’s commitment to boost the number of its troops leading NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Latvia, which was announced at the NATO Summit in Madrid, and discussed further possibilities for cooperation between Lithuania and Canada.

Kevin Rex was appointed as the Ambassador to Lithuania on 21 November 2018.
